We are looking for an energetic Widening Participation Assistant to help tell Birmingham City University’s exciting story of transformation to a range of prospective student audiences and influencers.
You will join a team set up to deliver a widening participation strategy that aims to build great relationships with schools and colleges, developing existing partnerships and forging new links across the region and beyond, and working to help raise aspirations of young learners.
Supporting with delivering a compelling programme of subject and general HE sessions with recruitment audiences, you will assist with on and off campus recruitment activity and ensure talks and events are exciting, purposeful and innovative.
You will be supporting the team in bringing the University’s Widening Participation strategy to life, to ensure that BCU is situated as a market leader in our Widening Participation (WP) recruitment and activity. You will help to develop the position of BCU as “the University for Birmingham”.
You will also take responsibility for the leading of our literacy tutoring and Aimhigher mentoring schemes, managing the budget for those schemes and developing and maintaining the links with schools to engage with as many learners as possible.
We want talented and enthusiastic applicants, ideally familiar with providing guidance to young people about higher education, and extremely comfortable with public speaking.

You will be an important member of the Student Recruitment team, working closely with the rest of the Marketing and Communications Department – including colleagues based in faculties, as well as our Campaigns, Communications and Admissions teams.
